Keyboards and pointer devices introduce a small delay between a physical press and the browser event arriving. Calibration measures your personal offset so tap-back scoring can account for it.

A positive offset (e.g. +25ms) means you tend to tap slightly after the beat, which is normal. Calibrate once; recalibrate if you switch devices.
